San Jose, CA – ‘Foreign’ Corporate Contributions Banned

 In Blog, Updates

Corporations with at least 5% equity owned by foreign nationals, or with a single foreign national owning at least 1% equity, are no longer permitted to contribute to San Jose elections or candidates.  Similar bans have been implemented in other cities, including within the same federal appellate circuit, and have been upheld against challenges that they violate free speech or are insufficiently tailored to quid-pro-quo corruption.
