Rhode Island – Ethics Commission Increases Gift Limit

The Rhode Island Ethics Commission has recently approved to increase the gift limit to public officials from $25 to $50 for single gifts, and from $75 in the aggregate to $150 in the aggregate per calendar year. The Ethics Commission additionally approved to broaden the definition of an “interested person” to include all lobbyists, including those working on behalf of nonprofits; both changes become effective on January 1, 2026.
