Maine – Bill to Increase Monetary Threshold for 24-Hour PAC and Independent Expenditure Reports Signed Into Law
The General Assembly has passed Legislative Document 2000, a bill increasing the monetary threshold for 24-hour PAC and independent expenditure reports; PACs are now required to file 24-hour reports after receiving a contribution of at least $10,000 (previously $5,000) or making an expenditure of $2,500 or more (previously $1,000); Independent expenditure reports have increased to $1,000 or more (previously $250) per candidate. The bill was approved by Governor Mills on April 3, 2026, and takes effect immediately.
