Challenge to Arizona Prop 211 Filed in Court

 In Blog, Updates

Arizona voters may have overwhelming approved Prop 211 only two months ago, but a lawsuit challenging it has already been filed in the Maricopa County Superior Court. Prop 211, which is designed to shed light on so called ‘dark money’ campaign spending, would require independent groups spending $50,000 or more in an election cycle to disclose all donors of at least $5,000 for statewide races, and at least $25,000 for local ones. The lawsuit, filed by the Goldwater Institute on December 15, 2022, seeks to stop the law’s implementation based on the privacy of the donors. No ruling has been issued yet and the case remains pending.
